Top 5 Unrestricted NBA Free Agents for 2008

1.  Antawn Jamison, Wizards - An underrated 20-10 guy and a good teammate.

2.  Corey Maggette, Clippers - Expected to opt out of his contract, he averaged over 20 PPG for the woeful Clippers this season.

3.  Beno Udrih, Kings - A solid PG who is overlooked due to playing for a small-market Sacramento team.

4.  Kurt Thomas, Spurs - An underrated double-double threat who will do the dirty work and hit a 15-foot jumper.

5.  Ricky Davis, Heat - A durable player, as shown by his 82 games played this season for the woeful Heat.  He could be a good bench scorer a la Jerry Stackhouse.

Notable restricted free agents include Andre Iguodala, Josh Smith, Emeka Okafor, Monta Ellis, Luol Deng, Andris Biedrins, and Ryan Gomes, which means that their respective teams have a right to match any offer given to them.  So if I was you, I wouldn't gets my hopes up on the possiblity of one of those guys landing with your team.

2008 NBA Playoffs = Crap TV

The NBA should be ashamed for such uncompetitive performances in this year's Playoffs.  I am a huge NBA fan, but these Playoffs are mking me feel ashamed to be a fan.  With the exception of the Detroit/Philadelphia 1st round matchup, every series so far has started 2-0 in favor of the home team.  That just shows you that most of the time, one team is dominating and the other is stnding around not believeing they can win.  Pathetic.

My matchup against H2OWilly

After a win over LBJ-MVP-08 in my first matchup in the MLB Mock Draft 2008 Touranment, it's time for my second matchup, against H2OWilly.

Batting Order:

Bench:

Rotation:

Bullpen:

Home field: PETCO Park

Due to his struggles to start the season, I've decided to move Howard down to 5th in the order.  Also, I don't know who Scott Kazmir's injury will affect him this season, so I moved him down to 4th in my rotation for precautionary reasons.  As listed above, Joakim Soria is my closer.  Jose Valverde and Rafael Soriano are my set-up men, and Damaso Marte is my left-handed specialist.

Why I think I could win: My offense isn't great, but we should still be able to put up enough runs against H2O's mediocre pitching rotation.  Not trying to be cocky, but I believe my rotation is one of the best, if not THE best rotation in this tournament, and having PETCO Park as my homefield certainly helps.

HurricaneDij39's Early 08-09 NBA Predictions

Atlantic Division:

  1. Boston Celtics - Big 3, year 2.
  2. Philadelphia 76ers - Look for them to take a step forward and get the #5 seed in the Leastern Conference.
  3. Toronto Raptors - They badly need a bruiser/rebounder to compliment Chris Bosh.  If they don't get him, then Philadelphia will pass them in the standings next year.
  4. New Jersey Nets - This team is destined for mediocrity as long as Vince Carter is around.
  5. New York Knicks - Congratulations, Stephon Marbury!  You will make close to $22 million next year!

Central Division:

  1. Detroit Pistons - Same old story.
  2. Cleveland Cavaliers - Last year, I believed that they were a one-man team and would struggle to make the Playoffs.  I was wrong.  That's how good LeBron James is.  As long as they have him, they will contend.
  3. Indiana Pacers - Jermaine O'Neal never found himself 100% healthy in 07-08.  If he returns to form, the Pacers could return to the Playoffs.  However, if they continue their losing ways, they need to get JO out of town before the trading deadline.  No more excuses.
  4. Chicago Bulls - Frontcourt depth is a problem.  Joakim Noah needs to get stronger, and Tyrus Thomas is a bit of a headcase.
  5. Milwaukee Bucks - Scott Skiles: Good luck in getting this team to play defense.

Southeast Division:

  1. Orlando Magic - This team lacks depth.  The return of Tony Battie should help a little bit.
  2. Washington Wizards - Last year, I made the mistake of believeing in this team.  I won't make that same mistake again.  This team totally lacks heart, and they talk a big game without backing it up.
  3. Charlotte Bobcats - I'm not Larry Brown's biggest fan, but I love this hire for the Cats.  Brown will get Jason Richardson and Gerald Wallace to coexist.  I want to put them ahead of the Wiz, but I can't until they prove they can win.
  4. Atlanta Hawks - With all the money they've committed to Mik
